Jared Gordon Delivers Stunning First-Round Knockout Against Thiago Moises at UFC Vegas 106

MMA news

Jared Gordon had recently faced disappointment with several extremely close decision losses. At UFC Vegas 106, he made sure the judges weren`t needed by securing a brutal knockout victory in the first round.

After some initial grappling exchanges with Thiago Moises, the experienced New York fighter landed a perfectly timed right hand that connected powerfully. The shot sent the Brazilian crashing to the canvas. Just moments later, Gordon followed up with additional strikes from above that completely knocked Moises unconscious before the referee quickly stepped in to stop the fight.

The official end of the bout came at 3 minutes and 37 seconds into the opening round.

Speaking after his win, Gordon commented, “I was a little cautious initially because I thought he would immediately attempt a takedown. But I was confident my boxing was superior. I caught him coming in and got the knockout.”

Despite facing an opponent known for his high-level grappling skills, Gordon showed no hesitation in taking the fight to the ground early on. However, during these exchanges, Moises did land a strike that opened a cut directly in the middle of Gordon`s forehead.

Fortunately, the wound did not bleed heavily, allowing Gordon to continue his ground control until Moises eventually managed to get back to his feet. This proved to be Moises` undoing, as Gordon instantly unleashed the decisive right hand that violently twisted Moises` head and sent him back to the canvas once again.

There was no recovery for Moises this time, as Gordon landed several more hard punches that rendered him unconscious, prompting the referee to intervene and protect him from further damage.

Gordon believes his professional record should reflect a longer winning streak, but contentious decision losses against fighters like Paddy Pimblett and Nasrat Haqparast in recent bouts prevented this. At UFC Vegas 106, there was no debate or need for scorecards; Gordon added a spectacular knockout finish over Moises to his resume from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
