Jake Paul has officially joined the ranks of professional boxers in the World Boxing Association.
Following his unanimous decision victory against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this past Saturday in Anaheim, California, Paul has secured the No. 14 spot in the WBA`s latest cruiserweight rankings. The event, held at the Honda Center, was promoted by Paul`s own Most Valuable Promotions.
This achievement brings “The Problem Child” a step closer to fulfilling his ambition of challenging for a world championship. The 28-year-old`s professional boxing record now stands at 12 wins and just one loss. His only defeat came via split decision to Tommy Fury in February 2023.
Since that solitary loss, Paul has gone on a six-fight winning streak. Six months after the Fury bout, he earned a unanimous decision win over former UFC star Nate Diaz. He then followed this with two consecutive first-round knockout victories: against Andre August in December 2023 and Ryan Bourland in March 2024.
Paul also competed twice more earlier in 2024. He delivered a dominant performance resulting in a sixth-round technical knockout against current BKFC fighter Mike Perry, who stepped in as a late replacement. Later in November, Paul faced boxing icon Mike Tyson, securing a unanimous decision win in a highly anticipated bout broadcast on Netflix, which was one of the most-viewed recent sporting events.
