Israel Adesanya and Joaquin Buckley are clearly not fond of each other.
During the main event of UFC Atlanta this past Saturday, Joaquin Buckley faced off against Israel Adesanya`s friend, Kamaru Usman. Adesanya watched the fight to support his fellow “African King” and before the bout even started, “The Last Stylebender” expressed some strong opinions about Buckley.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Adesanya didn`t hold back:
“I hate this n*gga, bro. I don’t even use the word ‘hate’ lightly but I hate this n*gga, bro. Something about him just f*cking annoys me. The coolest thing about him is that kick [Buckley’s KO of the Year over Impa Kasanganay in 2020]. I respect that. Literally, I’m just trying to chill, talk. ‘Hey man, we’ve gotta get this going, duh duh duh duh duh duh,’ like he’s rapping. Every single time. He’s just so f*cking annoying. At one point I literally walked away while he was talking … and I think he didn’t like that, so he went against me since then. But f*ck the dude. Maybe I’m a hater, bro. Maybe I’m just a hater.”
Following the fight at UFC Atlanta, Adesanya`s support paid off as Kamaru Usman secured a dominant decision victory over Buckley, delivering a performance reminiscent of his prime. Despite the defeat, Buckley seemed to be in good spirits and took the opportunity to respond to Adesanya`s comments on Monday.
Buckley fired back on social media, writing:
“Hate the farmer that took yo belt n*gga not me. #HateTheBoerN*gga. Stand on business bout Africa or China or wherever the f*ck you from bitch.”
Buckley started his UFC career in the middleweight division, where the outspoken “New Mansa” aimed to climb the ranks. Several losses impacted his progress at 185 pounds, but after moving down to welterweight in 2023, Buckley went on a significant run, winning six consecutive fights before his recent loss to Usman.
