Ilia Topuria confirmed he would accept a fight against Conor McGregor if offered by the UFC for his first bout after relinquishing the featherweight title.
“I think he’s going to come back,” Topuria said on the Joe Rogan Experience. “If they give the opportunity to guys at 40 years old like [Andrei] Arlovski, why not Conor?”
“Actually, we had talks about a fight,” Topuria continued. “But I don’t know what will happen after my next fight. The UFC is very specific about not revealing information.”
“But if they offer me a fight against Conor right now, I’ll say yes. That would be a great fight.”
“[Regarding a full fight camp], it would depend on the opponent. If it`s me, he needs a miracle to win.”
While Topuria would love a shot at Islam Makhachev and the lightweight title, he also expressed strong interest in facing Paddy Pimblett, especially after Pimblett`s win at UFC 314.
“What excites me more is the fight with Paddy,” Topuria explained. “That fight excites me even more than Conor, and if it happens in Spain, at the Bernabéu Stadium, it would be huge.”
“I know Dana White isn’t keen on stadium events, but the Bernabéu Stadium has a retractable roof and can hold 80,000 people. Many fans could easily travel from England to Spain.”
“That would be a massive event in Spain, against Paddy Pimblett.”
