Former UFC champion Holly Holm is making her anticipated return to the boxing ring. She has officially signed with Jake Paul`s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), and her first bout back is already scheduled for June 28.
Holm is set to compete on the undercard of the event headlined by Jake Paul facing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The fight night will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
This move follows Holm`s decision to pursue a return to boxing after concluding her time in the UFC. During her impressive MMA career, she notably captured the bantamweight title with a spectacular head kick knockout of Ronda Rousey in 2015. Despite having several fights remaining on her UFC contract, Holm requested and was granted a release by the promotion to explore alternative opportunities.
Prior to signing with MVP, Holm had briefly aligned with the Global Fight League, a promotion that ultimately dissolved without holding any events. Regardless of that, Holm had consistently expressed interest in returning to the sport where she built her initial fame. A highly respected figure in boxing, she was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, having secured multiple world championships across different weight classes and compiled an impressive professional boxing record of 33-2-3.
Now 43 years old, the decorated veteran is preparing to step back into a professional boxing match for the first time since 2013.
In her comeback fight, Holm will face Yolanda Vega, who holds a professional record of 10-1. Their contest is planned as a 10-round lightweight bout, with rounds lasting two minutes each.
In a statement regarding her return, Holm said:
“I`m excited to partner with Most Valuable Promotions and return to the boxing ring. This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey, and I`m looking forward to the challenge. Coming full circle back to boxing—I`ve spent most of my MMA career at 135 pounds, and now I have the opportunity to make my boxing debut at that weight. With boxing titles in three higher weight classes under my belt, I`m eager to pursue a fourth title in a new division.”
The Holm vs. Vega matchup is part of a stacked card that includes Paul vs. Chavez Jr. and several other fights. The entire event will be broadcast and available for purchase via DAZN pay-per-view.
