The woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by five former members of Canada`s 2018 world junior hockey team provided her testimony in court on Monday. She identified Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote as the individuals involved in non-consensual sexual acts that allegedly occurred at a hotel in London, Ontario.
According to the woman`s testimony, she went to McLeod`s hotel room following a gala celebrating the team`s world junior championship victory. She stated that after she and McLeod had sexual intercourse, two more men entered the room. While she was in the bathroom, two additional men arrived.
She testified that the five men allegedly made her lie down on a bedsheet and discussed sexual acts they wanted her to perform. She claimed they also pulled down their pants, demanding oral sex, and that one of the men did a split pose over her face.
“It felt degrading,” she told the court. “It was all just a joke to them.”
The woman further testified that when she went into the bathroom, one of the men followed her, put on a condom, and then had sexual intercourse with her.
She stated that she attempted to leave the room multiple times, but the men convinced her to remain each time. She also expressed fear regarding how the men might react if she refused their requests.
“My mind just shut down,” she recounted.
All five individuals have been charged with sexual assault. Michael McLeod faces an additional charge of being a party to sexual assault. At the time the charges were filed, McLeod, Hart, Dube, and Foote were active players on NHL rosters.
