The highly anticipated sequel, High on Life 2, developed by Squanch Games, has seen its release for the Nintendo Switch 2 console pushed back by a couple of months.
Initially slated for April 20th, the crude and comedic first-person shooter will now launch on the Switch 2 on July 1st. This decision, according to Squanch Games, was made to ensure the delivery of “highest quality experiences” and to allow “additional elbow grease towards production.”
In a blog post announcing the delay, the High on Life 2 team explained that this extra development time will enable the studio to “better meet not only our high standards for gaming, but yours as well.”
As a direct consequence of this postponement, all digital pre-orders for High on Life 2 have been cancelled. However, customers who pre-ordered a physical copy will still receive their game, with shipments expected in July.
The developer expressed gratitude for the High on Life 2 community’s “patience and continued support” as they finalize the Switch 2 version.
While the original High on Life received a lukewarm reception, its sequel, which launched earlier this year on Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, garnered more favorable reviews. One critic noted, “High on Life 2 has grown up in mostly the right ways, while retaining enough of its goofball personality to be a good hang when it counts.”
