Henry Cejudo, despite not having any upcoming fights, recently had the opportunity to utilize his skills in an unexpected real-life situation.
This past Saturday, Dylan Rush, Cejudo`s producer, shared a video where the former two-division UFC champion detailed a remarkable event. In the video, Cejudo explains how he assisted in detaining a suspect in his neighborhood who had crashed a car and then assaulted a homeowner.
According to Cejudo, he and Dylan Rush witnessed a car speeding by, estimating it was traveling around 80 miles per hour. Shortly after, they heard a loud crash and saw the vehicle had gone up a ramp and crashed into his neighbor`s yard.
The video shared by Rush shows the suspect being wrestled to the ground and Cejudo`s neighbor with a visible head injury. Cejudo stated that the driver of the crashed vehicle attacked his neighbor, prompting Cejudo to intervene.
Cejudo recounted, “The guy got up and tried to flee, and then he assaulted the homeowner. Once he hit my neighbor, who is in his 60s, I stepped in. I took down the suspect, restrained him, and some neighbors also assisted.”
Dylan Rush provided further details in an Instagram post, stating that the driver was speeding at 80 MPH in a residential area before crashing into a house across the street from Cejudo. After exiting the vehicle, the driver attempted to run away. When the 65-year-old homeowner tried to stop him, the driver punched him multiple times before Cejudo chased him down and tackled him. The suspect continued to resist until another neighbor pointed a gun at him, at which point he cooperated until the Phoenix Police Department arrived.
