The main event for UFC 316 is set: a second fight between Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O`Malley. Is this the rematch everyone wanted? Many fans don`t think so.
UFC 316 will feature bantamweight champion Dvalishvili defending his title against O`Malley. Dvalishvili won the belt from O`Malley at UFC 306 last September, dominating the fight with his wrestling. However, O`Malley claimed he performed better than the judges` scores showed and has been pushing for a rematch ever since.
Dvalishvili then defended his title successfully against Umar Nurmagomedov, while O`Malley recovered from hip surgery. Now, O`Malley will get his rematch against Dvalishvili on June 7 in Newark, New Jersey, without fighting anyone else in between.
Many fans are not happy that O`Malley is getting an immediate rematch, and some very critical reactions to the UFC 316 main event announcement have appeared online.
