Ex-UFC Fighter Maurice Greene Takes on Role in Jordan Peele Horror Film ‘Him’

MMA news

Former UFC heavyweight contender Maurice Greene is expanding his career beyond mixed martial arts, securing a featured part in the upcoming horror movie Him. The film is being produced by acclaimed filmmaker Jordan Peele, known for his Oscar-winning work.

The debut trailer for Him, released recently, showcases Greene in a chilling scene. The trailer depicts the seasoned fighter with a bloodied face during a training session alongside the film`s lead actor, Tyriq Withers.

The cast of Him boasts a diverse ensemble, including comedic actor Marlon Wayans, Tim Heidecker, Australian comedian Jim Jefferies, Greene, and hip hop artist Guapdad 4000. Grammy-nominated artist Tierra Whack also stars, with Greene, Guapdad 4000, and Whack all making their feature film debuts in this project.

Him centers on Cameron Cade (played by Withers), a promising quarterback whose life and identity are deeply intertwined with football. On the verge of the annual professional football scouting Combine, Cameron is attacked by a disturbed fan, resulting in a potentially career-ending brain injury.

Just as hope dwindles, Cameron is offered a lifeline by his idol, Isaiah White (Wayans), a celebrated eight-time championship quarterback and cultural icon. Isaiah invites Cameron to train at his secluded compound, shared with his influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). However, as Cameron`s training intensifies, Isaiah`s initially charismatic persona transforms into something sinister, leading his protégé into a disturbing and potentially dangerous situation.

Him is directed by Justin Tipping, based on a screenplay featured on the Black List, written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. Jordan Peele serves as an executive producer through his Monkeypaw Productions, with Universal Pictures handling distribution.
