Emma Raducanu`s participation in the Miami Open has ended after a challenging match against Jessica Pegula, during which she experienced a concerning episode of dizziness.
The quarter-final match between Raducanu and Pegula lasted for two and a half hours. Ultimately, Pegula, who is considered the wealthiest tennis player globally, defeated the British player.

Pegula, the No. 4 seed, concluded Raducanu`s impressive run in the tournament with a score of 6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-2.
Concerns arose regarding Raducanu`s health towards the end of the second set when she reported feeling dizzy.
Despite the dizziness, she continued to play after receiving medical assistance, including a blood test, and completed the third set.
Describing her dizziness, the 22-year-old stated, “I just felt really dizzy. I felt faint.”
“I`m not sure, perhaps it was due to the high humidity and the extended wait times. It could also be the result of physical exertion, long rallies, and challenging conditions.”
“However, I`m unsure how I managed to recover in the second set, but I definitely struggled somewhat in the third set.”
Following her defeat by Pegula, who is the heir to a £4 billion fortune, Raducanu is now re-evaluating her schedule for her subsequent tournament.

She commented, “I’m uncertain. I believe I need to pause, take a moment, and reassess my current approach.”
“This week was positive, but I need to analyze the situation and then create a plan moving forward.”
Raducanu demonstrated flashes of her US Open-winning form during her journey to the quarter-finals in Miami.
Over the past two weeks in Florida, she achieved four consecutive victories, reaching the quarter-finals of the prestigious Miami Open for the first time.
Although she has reached later stages in other competitions, this is her first quarter-final appearance at a Masters 1000 tournament, which is just below the Grand Slam level.
This achievement occurred despite her recent decision to part ways with her coach, Vladimir Platenik, last week after only two weeks of working together.
Platenik stated to the BBC, “I fully understand Emma`s situation; she is not in an easy position.”
“The world is watching her after the US Open victory in 2021, and everyone, including herself, has expectations for her next steps.”
“Therefore, it is completely understandable that she is under significant pressure. She mentioned feeling stressed to me.”
“There are no negative feelings from my side. She ended the partnership fairly, perhaps abruptly, but this is tennis, this is sport. We must respect that.”
“She wasn`t feeling well, and it was her decision. I didn`t want to delve deeper into the reasons.”
“I believe the player needs to feel comfortable and make their own decisions.”
“Sometimes decisions are good, and sometimes they are not.”
