Dricus du Plessis Responds to Khamzat Chimaev’s Criticism

MMA news

Dricus du Plessis sharply responded to Khamzat Chimaev.

On Sunday, rumors surfaced about a possible injury to the UFC middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis, which could lead to the cancellation of the planned June fight with Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 317. In response, Chimaev wrote on Twitter, criticizing du Plessis.

“This guy is talking nonsense,” Chimaev wrote.

Du Plessis replied in the comments to Chimaev`s post, defending his position and hinting at hypocrisy from Chimaev.

“Let`s look at the last 2.5 years and tell me who is talking nonsense,” du Plessis replied.

MMA Fighting contacted several sources familiar with UFC`s plans regarding these rumors. One source reported that more information about the middleweight title situation would appear soon, and another said that the current plan is to defend the title in the fall.

The UFC has not officially confirmed that the fight between Du Plessis and Chimaev was scheduled for any date, and has not made any public statements regarding reports of Du Plessis`s injury.

After Chimaev`s tweet, promising fighter Caio Borralho challenged Chimaev to a fight, even suggesting an interim title fight.
