Derrick Lewis is set to return to the main event spotlight.
The veteran heavyweight contender will headline UFC Nashville on July 12th against the undefeated prospect Tallison Teixeira.
Lewis (record 28-12, 1 NC) is scheduled for his 30th appearance in the UFC. The 40-year-old fighter will compete for the first time in over a year. In his most recent bout in May 2024, Lewis secured a third-round knockout victory over Rodrigo Nascimento in the main event of UFC St. Louis. This win was just his second in his last six fights.
Teixeira (record 8-0) is notably tall at 6 feet 7 inches. He had a successful UFC debut this past February after earning his contract through Dana White`s Contender Series. The 25-year-old maintained his perfect finishing rate by defeating Justin Tafa with strikes in only 35 seconds.
UFC Nashville marks the promotion`s return to the Tennessee capital. Their previous event there was in August 2023, which was headlined by Cory Sandhagen`s unanimous decision win against Rob Font.
