Darren Till wins close decision over Darren Stewart at Misfits Boxing 21

MMA news

Darren Till secured his second victory in Misfits Boxing, but the win didn`t come easy, requiring a significant effort.

Headlining Misfits Boxing 21 on Friday in Derby, England, Till faced fellow former UFC competitor Darren Stewart in an eight-round contest held at Valliant Live. Unlike his quick knockout victory over Anthony Taylor at Misfits 20 in January, “The Gorilla” was pushed the full distance in an unexpectedly tough fight, ultimately earning a unanimous decision win.

Till started strongly, frequently connecting with his left hand and scoring an early knockdown against Stewart in the opening round. While it appeared Till might be heading for another fast finish, “The Dentist” resiliently beat the referee`s count and made it through the round.

The second round also saw Till performing well, but Stewart demonstrated toughness. “The Dentist” gradually began applying pressure, pushing Till back with relentless forward movement despite taking hits. This persistent pressure against the ropes started to visibly tire the former UFC welterweight title contender over the subsequent rounds.

Although Till landed effective shots throughout the fight, Stewart`s resilience and constant pressure posed significant challenges. As the bout neared its conclusion, the outcome appeared uncertain, with many wondering if Till had done enough to secure the decision win. The answer came in the fight`s closing seconds.

Just before the final bell, Till moved off the ropes and capitalized on a momentary vulnerability from Stewart. He landed a powerful left hand to the temple, sending “The Dentist” staggering and almost through the ropes. Although Stewart managed to stand before the round ended, the impact was decisive. The fight went to the scorecards, where Till was awarded a unanimous decision victory.

Following his win, Till addressed KSI, who was present ringside. He issued a challenge to the YouTube star, also proposing potential tag-team bouts against Logan and Jake Paul, or suggesting individual matchups against veterans like Jorge Masvidal or Mike Perry.
