UFC President Dana White is currently not focusing on Conor McGregor`s fight status.
During an interview with Adam Glyn, White provided an update on McGregor, who has been inactive since suffering a leg break against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
While White was previously hopeful about “The Notorious” returning in 2025, the UFC star`s future in the octagon is now uncertain.
“He`s not fighting anytime soon,” White stated. “I haven`t talked to him in a minute, but yeah, I don`t know.”
McGregor`s potential return has faced multiple complications. Beyond pursuing non-fighting ventures, such as a role in the 2024 Road House remake, he also sustained a toe injury that led to the cancellation of his scheduled fight against Michael Chandler in June.
The 36-year-old fighter was also recently found liable for sexual assault in a civil case related to a 2018 event in Dublin and is currently involved in another civil suit concerning an alleged sexual assault in Miami in 2023.
Although McGregor has shared training footage on social media, it remains uncertain if this indicates a genuine intention to compete again.
Meanwhile, Dana White continues to seek out new talent, though he acknowledges that no fighter will likely replicate Conor McGregor`s unique impact.
“There will never be another Conor McGregor,” White commented. “There will be another superstar that pops up, but there will never be another Conor McGregor. There will never be another Ronda Rousey, there will never be another Chuck Liddell, `GSP.` Somebody will pop up.”
“They make themselves. A hundred percent,” White asserted. “We find people who have talent and obviously if you have the personality that all those other people have that we were just talking about, that`s incredible, but I`m always just looking for the best fighters in the world and the rest is up to them.”
