Conor McGregor Sets Stadium Condition for UFC Return, Addresses Michael Chandler

MMA news

Conor McGregor is once again generating buzz in the mixed martial arts world.

Having been absent from competition for nearly four years, the sport`s biggest star has now spoken about the terms for his potential return to the UFC octagon. Inspired by the business success of WrestleMania 41, McGregor took to Twitter to state his primary condition:

I’ll only come back to a stadium.

McGregor, also known as “The Notorious,” was originally scheduled to face Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 this past June, during the promotion`s annual International Fight Week. However, the highly anticipated fight was cancelled just weeks prior due to McGregor suffering a toe injury.

Following his tweet about the stadium requirement, McGregor sent a direct message to Michael Chandler, reigniting talk of their potential clash:

Iron Mike Chandler. Unfinished business.

Chandler, a former Bellator champion, quickly indicated his readiness shortly after McGregor`s posts, tweeting in response:

Unfinished business loading….

Chandler further expanded on his thoughts on Threads, writing:

Dust off the old contract and add some new ink… I’m ready tomorrow.

He added a strong statement regarding commitment:

YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND, IF YOUR WORD IS NO GOOD THEN EVENTUALLY YOU ARE NO GOOD.

During his extensive break from the octagon, prompted by a severe leg injury sustained in his July 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, McGregor has engaged in various business ventures. The former two-division champion has acquired part-ownership in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and has even publicly considered running for President of Ireland.

Meanwhile, Michael Chandler recently suffered a TKO loss to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 earlier this month.
