Chico Kwasi etched his name in the annals of GLORY history on Saturday, April 25th, at the RTM Stage in Rotterdam. In the main event of GLORY 107, Kwasi achieved a remarkable feat, becoming only the second fighter in the organization’s history to simultaneously hold world titles in two different weight classes. He successfully challenged and defeated Donovan Wisse for the middleweight championship, adding it to his existing welterweight title.
The welterweight kingpin moved up to middleweight and engaged in a closely contested battle with Donovan Wisse, ultimately securing the middleweight belt. This victory positions the 28-year-old Kwasi alongside Alex Pereira as the sole fighters to have accomplished this dual championship status in GLORY.
In the co-main event, Tariq ‘Cookie’ Osaro made a strong return to the win column with a decisive victory over his rival Nico ‘Big Sexy’ Horta. Osaro demonstrated his power by knocking Horta down in the first round with a formidable uppercut.
The light heavyweight “proving grounds” contests saw several fighters emerge victorious, bolstering their claims for a spot in the upcoming COLLISION 9 eight-man grand prix. Cem Caceres, Mo Touchassie, Stefan Latescu, Mohammed Hamdi, Luis Tavares, and Albert Ugrincic all secured wins in their respective bouts, each aiming for inclusion in the prestigious tournament on June 13th, which will crown a new GLORY light heavyweight world champion.
The main card also featured other notable performances. Nabil Khachab secured a hard-fought split decision win against veteran Errol Koning. Mohammed Boutasaa made an impressive promotional debut, defeating Cedric Do by unanimous decision.
The GLORY 107 superfight series showcased exciting matchups as well. Top heavyweight Rade Opacic returned to winning ways with a unanimous decision over Colin George. Deniz Demirkapu continued his streak of entertaining performances with a stoppage victory against Mohamed Hamami. Additionally, Italian prospect Michael Samperi delivered a potential knockout of the year contender in his GLORY debut.
