Newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Carlos Ulberg has already misplaced his championship belt. While not lost in a competitive bout, the fighter has simply misplaced the gold.
Ulberg revealed to Fox Sports Australia on Monday that he doesn’t know the exact whereabouts of the belt. He explained that despite initial intentions to abstain from alcohol after his win, celebratory drinks quickly escalated. “First, someone gives you a champagne to celebrate,” Ulberg recounted. “Then one thing leads to another and you’re doing shots. So it’s ‘OK, I’ll have another, and another, and another…’” He described going out with his team to an afterparty at a nightclub in Miami following his fight, and then returning to an apartment with friends.
“I didn’t want to be carrying the belt around so I think it’s still there at the apartment somewhere,” Ulberg stated. “One of the boys probably has it in bed with him.”
Carlos Ulberg secured the vacant UFC light heavyweight title by defeating former champion Jiri Prochazka in the main event of UFC 327 in Miami on Saturday.
