Carlos Alcaraz Celebrates French Open Title in Ibiza with Premier League Friend

Sport news

Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz traveled to Ibiza to celebrate his recent triumph at the French Open. He was joined on the Spanish island by a former Premier League footballer.

The 21-year-old, now a three-time Grand Slam champion, has previously confessed his affection for enjoying the lively atmosphere of Ibiza.

Alcaraz clinched the Roland Garros title after a demanding match against Jannik Sinner, winning 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 in five hours and 29 minutes. This epic encounter set a new record for the longest French Open final ever played, with Alcaraz staging an impressive comeback from two sets down.

Following his momentous victory, the Spanish sensation headed to the famed party island of Ibiza to unwind with friends.

During his stay, Alcaraz was photographed alongside Sergio Reguilon, formerly of Manchester United. Reguilon posted the photo, simply captioning it: “Traditions.”

Reguilon, a 28-year-old full-back, is set to become a free agent at the end of June after his departure from Tottenham.

Known to be a keen tennis fan, Reguilon, who has also represented Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, is often seen attending the Madrid Masters tournament in April.

The Spanish international footballer was also present at Roland Garros recently, accompanied by Bryan Mbeumo, his former teammate at Brentford.

Looking ahead, Alcaraz is scheduled to commence his grass-court preparations for Wimbledon at the Queen`s Club tournament next week.

The reigning champion at SW19 is not expected to arrive in West London until Saturday.

Interestingly, Alcaraz also chose to visit Ibiza after the French Open tournaments in both 2023 and 2024.

On both previous occasions, his return from the “White Isle” seemed to have a positive effect, as he went on to win the Wimbledon men`s singles title in both those years.

According to the recent Netflix documentary, “Carlos Alcaraz: My Way,” the decision to head to Ibiza was met with disapproval from his coaching staff.

However, Alcaraz decided against their advice, explaining in the documentary: “I had a friend who had a few days off, going to Ibiza with other friends. I ended up going, and they know what I`m going there to do. In Ibiza, I`m not going to lie, it`s pretty much all about partying and going out. I basically went there to burst. I`m not sure if that`s the best way to put it, but I went there to go out.”

Coach Ferrero Comments on Queen`s Participation

Alcaraz`s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, confirmed that his player currently plans to participate in the Queen`s tournament, where Alcaraz previously lost to Britain`s Jack Draper.

Speaking to Spanish outlet El Larguero, Ferrero stated: “The plan is to play, but we`ll make a final decision in a few days. We talked about it mid-tournament, and Carlos told us he was looking forward to going. After these days of rest, on Thursday or Friday, we`ll do a test to see how he feels physically and mentally.”
