Cain Velasquez Receives Prison Time for Attempted Murder: MMA World Reacts

MMA news

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is facing a prison sentence, and many in the fighting community are showing their support.

On Monday, Velasquez was sentenced in connection with a February 2022 incident. He was involved in a high-speed chase and fired shots at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, who is awaiting trial on child molestation charges. Velasquez`s four-year-old son is allegedly a victim in Goularte`s case.

Velasquez received a five-year prison sentence for attempted murder and other charges. He pleaded no-contest, and with time already served, he is expected to remain in prison for no more than two years.

Like much of the MMA community, fellow fighters have voiced their support for Velasquez. Former UFC champion Chris Weidman commented, “This is awful,” among other reactions from fighters.
