Middleweight contenders Brendan Allen and Marvin Vettori are set to face off in a highly anticipated clash at UFC 318 on July 19 in New Orleans, aiming to resolve their ongoing animosity.
News of the booking was confirmed by multiple sources.
This fight brings to a head a long-standing rivalry that began when they were initially booked to fight at UFC Vegas 90. Vettori`s withdrawal from that bout due to injury only intensified the bad feelings between the two.
Their feud escalated beyond verbal exchanges, reportedly leading to a physical altercation at a PFL event held in Florida.
Now they will finally settle their differences inside the Octagon. Both fighters are in need of a victory, coming off recent losses.
Allen is currently on a two-fight losing streak, having dropped decisions to Nassourdine Imavov and Anthony Hernandez after previously winning seven in a row. Vettori`s recent record stands at 1-3 in his last four fights, including consecutive losses to Roman Dolidze and Jared Cannonier.
The bout also marks a homecoming for Allen, who was born and raised in Louisiana. He previously trained in the state, working alongside UFC 318 headliner Dustin Poirier. Poirier is scheduled for his retirement fight against Max Holloway in the main event on the same night.
