UFC middleweight Bo Nickal is set to broaden his combat sports involvement by signing with the Real American Freestyle wrestling organization. Nickal intends to actively compete in wrestling for Real American Freestyle while simultaneously pursuing his career in mixed martial arts.
The Real American Freestyle wrestling promotion is spearheaded by notable figures in the sports world, including wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, former WCW senior vice president Eric Bischoff, and experienced long-time wrestling coach Izzy Martinez.
Commenting on the significant signing, Hulk Hogan stated, “Bo Nickal is a tremendous athlete and one of the most accomplished wrestlers on the planet.” Hogan added that Nickal`s competitive spirit and extensive experience “immediately elevates the RAF roster to new heights,” ensuring that fans attending an RAF event will witness “the best of the best on the mat.”
Nickal possesses one of the most impressive wrestling pedigrees among athletes who have transitioned into MMA, having secured three NCAA Division I National Championships during his time at Penn State University.
Since making the move from collegiate wrestling to the MMA cage, Nickal made an immediate impact with a 31-second knockout victory in his professional debut. He quickly earned an opportunity on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he stopped both of his opponents in the first round, which led to him being awarded a UFC contract.
Upon joining the UFC, the 2019 Dan Hodge Trophy winner continued his winning streak, securing victories in his first four octagon appearances. However, in his most recent fight, which took place in May at UFC Des Moines, Nickal suffered his first professional defeat when he was stopped by Reinier de Ridder.
