Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena have largely maintained a level of respect for each other leading up to their fight, but their interactions haven`t been entirely without tension.
Ahead of their main event welterweight title clash at UFC 315 in Montreal this Saturday, Muhammad and Della Maddalena appeared on stage to promote the bout. They exchanged mild verbal jabs before it was time for the faceoff.
During the faceoff, the situation briefly turned physical.
As Della Maddalena extended his fists towards the welterweight champion, Muhammad reacted by swatting his arm away. This action appeared to visibly agitate the Australian challenger.
UFC CEO Dana White was quick to step between the fighters to prevent the brief confrontation from escalating further, and the situation was quickly brought under control.
Apart from this specific exchange, the remaining UFC 315 faceoffs proceeded without incident. However, local fighter Aiemann Zahabi from Quebec might have found it slightly surprising that his opponent, José Aldo, seemed to receive a warmer reception from the crowd than he did.
