During a recent interview, tennis player Arthur Fils was questioned about a noticeable shift in his serve performance. After a week of maintaining an almost unassailable serve, where he had not conceded any breaks and frequently used it to escape difficult situations, its effectiveness seemed to differ in a subsequent match. Fils attributed this change to subtle yet impactful alterations in his delivery.
“It was just a matter of a few kilometres per hour less on the serve, and a slight decrease in precision when hitting my target zones,” Fils explained. “But even those small differences were enough to allow my opponent to return more comfortably. I became a bit more readable; he could anticipate where I was aiming with less difficulty.”
