Tennis icon Andy Murray is beginning a completely new professional chapter after his recent coaching split with Novak Djokovic.
The 38-year-old British star was a dominant figure in the sport during his peak years.
Over his 19-year playing career, Murray secured numerous ATP Tour titles, including two Wimbledon championships and a US Open title.
The Scottish player retired from professional tennis in 2024, concluding his career after representing Team GB at the Paris Olympic Games.
Earlier this year, he surprised many fans by taking on a coaching role for Novak Djokovic.
However, their coaching partnership ended amicably earlier this month.
Now, Murray has quickly moved into a completely different professional field.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Murray disclosed that he is entering the venture capital sector.
The former champion is joining Redrice Ventures, a London-based investment firm, as an associate partner.
Redrice Ventures holds investments in diverse sectors, such as pet food and sustainable products like reusable water bottles.
This isn`t his first involvement with the firm; he previously collaborated with them in 2018 on a co-investment deal related to the sportswear company Castore.
Murray already possesses a portfolio of business ventures, including a luxury hotel in Scotland, a padel tennis business, and involvement with a crowdfunding platform.
Commenting on this transition, Murray stated it was difficult to leave tennis, a sport that consumed him for so long, without having other pursuits. He noted observing other athletes struggle with identity after retirement if they didn`t have alternative interests lined up.
He added that at 38, he felt it was too young for full retirement.
Murray explained that his long-term plan was always to dedicate more time to his business interests after finishing playing, and he is now enjoying starting these projects.
He believes his strong work ethic and focused determination from his sports career will contribute to his success in this new field.
