Amanda Nunes, widely recognized as the most dominant female athlete in the history of mixed martial arts, is officially entering the prestigious UFC Hall of Fame.
The announcement was made during the UFC 314 broadcast from Miami, revealing Nunes as a member of the 2025 Hall of Fame class. The induction ceremony is scheduled for June 28 in Las Vegas.
Nunes, age 36, was present at the Kaseya Center and visibly moved by the announcement, displaying a range of emotions.
Throughout her career, Nunes (23-5 record) has earned the title of the GOAT in women`s MMA. Her reign from 2015 to 2021 was marked by unparalleled dominance, as she secured and defended championship titles in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. She achieved decisive victories against many of the sport`s elite.
Her list of conquered opponents includes iconic names such as Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, and Germaine de Randamie. Nunes established an iron grip on two weight classes, overcoming a formidable roster of competitors.
Even her defeats proved to be temporary setbacks. Following a surprising loss to Julianna Peña at UFC 269, Nunes decisively avenged this loss with a dominant five-round victory in their immediate rematch at UFC 277. She then went on to defeat Irene Aldana at UFC 289 in June 2023, after which she announced her retirement from the sport.
Despite recently hinting at a potential return to competition during UFC 314 fight week, possibly against the winner of the Peña vs. Kayla Harrison fight at UFC 316, Nunes can now celebrate her well-deserved place among the legends in the Hall of Fame.
Other notable figures to be inducted at the June 28 ceremony at T-Mobile Arena include former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (Modern Wing), the classic fight between Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum from UFC 236 (Fight Wing), and producer Craig Piligian (Contributor Wing).
Nunes and Lawler will join the Modern Wing alongside other legendary figures such as Ronda Rousey, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Georges St-Pierre, B.J. Penn, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jose Aldo, and Daniel Cormier.
