Allegations Surface: Gervonta Davis Arrested Again Following Domestic Incident

MMA news

Renowned boxing figure Gervonta `Tank` Davis has once again found himself in legal trouble. Reports from Florida indicate Davis was taken into custody on Friday morning in Miami Beach. This arrest stems from an alleged incident that occurred days earlier, specifically on Saturday, June 15th – Father`s Day – outside a residence in Doral, Florida.

According to law enforcement reports, the alleged incident took place during a scheduled exchange involving the two children shared by Davis and his ex-girlfriend. An argument reportedly ensued between the parents regarding the Father`s Day visitation. Following the disagreement, Davis is alleged to have stated he would no longer be taking the children.

The situation is reported to have escalated when the alleged victim reached into the backseat of a vehicle, presumably for their daughter. At this point, Davis is alleged to have physically struck her, hitting her in the back of the head before also slapping her face, according to details outlined in the police report from the Doral Police Department.

This latest charge adds to a series of legal challenges that have periodically impacted Davis`s career and public image. Notably, it marks at least the third instance where the WBA lightweight champion has faced allegations of physically assaulting a woman. Previous incidents include an arrest in February 2020 following an alleged domestic violence incident caught on camera, and another battery domestic violence charge in December 2022, accusations that were later recanted ahead of a scheduled fight.

The news of this arrest comes relatively soon after Davis was involved in a highly debated boxing match in March of this year. During his bout against Lamont Roach, Davis took a knee in the ninth round, attributing the pause to vision issues. The moment was not officially ruled a knockdown by the referee, and the fight ultimately concluded in a majority draw, allowing Davis to retain his championship belt. This adds a layer of complexity to a year that has seen Davis navigate both in-ring controversy and ongoing issues outside of it.

As of the time of reporting, details regarding Davis`s current legal status following the Miami Beach arrest are developing, but the charge filed is reportedly battery.
