Aaron Pico values his time with Bellator MMA, but his ultimate goal has always been to prove himself in the UFC, the sport`s premier organization.
After a brief stint in the PFL following their acquisition of Bellator, Pico, now 28, became a free agent and immediately pursued a UFC contract. Following some negotiation with the PFL, Pico successfully signed with the UFC and is eager to begin this new chapter.
“The UFC is the biggest and most respected MMA organization globally,” Pico stated. “While other organizations have talented fighters, true recognition and respect come with being a UFC champion. Many fighters aspire to compete in the UFC because it represents the highest level of competition and professionalism.”
Pico admires the UFC`s dedication and believes it`s the ideal platform for his career. He aims to contribute to the organization`s success and vice versa.
Like former Bellator champion Patricio Pitbull, who also recently joined the UFC, Pico seeks to test himself against the best in the world.
Entering his prime, Pico is determined to contend for a UFC title. He reflects on his growth and development since his early career.
“I’ve improved significantly,” Pico said. “Looking back at my first fights, it’s remarkable how much I’ve learned and evolved, both mentally and technically. Working with my coaches Brandon Gibson and Greg Jackson has been transformative. I now have the confidence to face anyone at 145 pounds and believe I can defeat any featherweight in the world. This mental fortitude is crucial for my success.”
Following in the footsteps of Michael Chandler and Kayla Harrison, Pico joins the UFC with considerable anticipation and aims to fulfill his high expectations.
While not yet a mainstream name, Pico believes joining the UFC will change that, giving him the platform to showcase his skills to a wider audience.
“UFC fans are yet to see what I can do,” Pico concluded. “I’m excited to compete on this grand stage.”
