12-Fight UFC Veteran Vinc Pichel Announces Retirement from MMA

MMA news

Longtime UFC competitor Vinc Pichel has announced his decision to step away from professional mixed martial arts.

The veteran lightweight, who had 12 bouts inside the Octagon, confirmed his retirement at the age of 42. Pichel concluded his fighting journey after suffering three consecutive losses, with his final appearance being a decision defeat to Rafa Garcia at UFC Mexico in March.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Pichel wrote about his transition:

“There is so much to say. The short version: At 42 years old and I’m officially retiring from competing in MMA.”

He elaborated on his mixed emotions and gratitude:

“The longer version: I’m sad, I’m excited, I’m happy, I’m afraid. I’m grateful to everyone who was with me or part of my MMA career and there are too many to list. … It’s meant the world to me! As for everyone else who was part of my career, it’s because of you, too, that this kid from California was able to do what he’s done. Thank you, and thank you to everyone who made me as proud as I am to be me today!”

Pichel also shared future plans, stating he will continue using his social media accounts and intends to write a book detailing his MMA path, including unseen photos and videos.

He offered some parting advice to his followers:

“So I guess this is it, as I walk away I’ll leave you with this: Do what feels right, don’t apologize for being you, learn what you can from who you can, no regret’s and most importantly, have fun!”

Vinc “From Hell” Pichel first gained prominence as a participant on Season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter reality show. After winning two fights on the show, he lost to Al Iaquinta. His official UFC debut in December 2012 resulted in a loss to Rustam Khabilov, but he rebounded significantly, winning four in a row and seven out of his next eight fights, including a notable decision victory over veteran Jim Miller at UFC 252 in August 2020.

Pichel finishes his UFC career with a record of 7 wins and 5 losses. His last win came via decision against Austin Hubbard at UFC Vegas 34 in August 2021.
